This masterclass is short, to-the-point, and easy to follow. It’s broken into 5 parts:
1: THE BASICS (starting Scrivener for the first time, plus a quick orientation tour)
2: SETTING UP YOUR STORY PROJECT (how to build out your folders from scratch OR load in Abbie’s Scrivener template, which comes with the masterclass)
3: CUSTOMIZING YOUR WRITING SPACE (how to change themes and the best places to keep your notes for easy access)
4: BACKUPS AND EXPORTS (getting your writing out of Scrivener and setting up backups so you can sleep at night)
5: MY FAVORITE FEATURES (because there are way more awesome secret weapons that will make your writing process fast, smooth, and fun)
You can also download Abbie’s pack of 7 gorgeous Scrivener themes, (4 dark mode, 3 light mode) all of which are inspired by different genres. The masterclass will show you how to import them and make them your own.

Course Content
After installing Scrivener, we’ll launch the program and start our first project, saving it in a secure place. In a brief and minimal orientation tour, I will show you the most basic ropes. Where you navigate your files, where you write your actual book, where you put your notes, etc. as well as how to change the font and size.
I’ll show you how to import my Scrivener template which is pre-built with all the folders already in them. Alternatively, I will show you how to create folders from scratch for: your manuscript, your outlines, your characters folder, templates folder, settings folder, notes and research folders.
You can change the way Scrivener looks! It is fully customizable, and in this lesson I will show you how to quickly switch between themes, utilize dark mode to save your eyes, and import my custom-made themes into your project. I'll also teach you how to switch to composition mode and how to use the different features, plus change the background to set the mood for what you’re writing.
How to set up your project to automatically save every 2 seconds as well as setting up a backups folder for your project to save in every time you quit Scrivener. We'll also take an orientation tour of your computer’s files so that you always know where your projects are saving and how to find them again.
In this lesson, we'll explore some of my favorite tools, like Writing History, Linguistic Focus, Name Generator, and label colors.
